Montway Bait-and-switch pricing. Zero integrity.

I booked Montway 3 months in advance to ship my vehicle from Florida to Massachusetts, locking in an agreed-upon rate and a 5-day pickup window. I had used Montway several times previously for the exact same back and forth car shipping. We agreed to a price of $1299. Because I wanted to ensure everything was on track, I proactively reached out to Montway several times prior to my pickup window to get a status update. Every single time, I received an email back containing this message in bold print: “When should you expect to hear back - very likely to be today or in a day or two!” These same messages continued all the way into my agreed upon 5 day window pickup period which started on May 13, 2026. Montway repeatedly strung me along with these documented assurances while doing absolutely nothing. Then on May 15, 2026 on day 3 of my 5-day pickup window—and just two days before my scheduled flights out of the state—Montway finally broke their silence to inform me they were hitting me with a last-minute price increase. They told me they needed $1,800 instead of $1,299, a 39% price hike. They stated it was because of fuel prices, but fuel prices had spiked weeks before. I pushed back hard and got them to accept an increase of “only” $300 or 23% to $1,599 for the shipment. Because Montway waited until the absolute eleventh hour, they left me with zero time to find an alternative carrier without canceling my flights. We had no choice but to agree to this bait and switch or we faced missing a number of scheduled appointments back in MA. Montway completely used my travel timeline as leverage, knowing I had no choice but to agree to the hike just to get my car moved. When I demanded to speak with a manager to address this predatory behavior, I was brushed off. I received an email promising that management would contact me, but no one ever attempted to call or follow up. They simply forced the price hike and went radio silent. If the price of oil had dropped 20% during the 3 months since my booking, Montway certainly wouldn’t have called me to say my agreed-upon price was going down. Booking months in advance and being a proactive customer means absolutely nothing to Montway. If you want a broker that honors its word and doesn't exploit your travel deadlines for profit, look elsewhere. I received my automated review from Montway today and have given them a 0 score. I will never use them again and am writing this review to warn others. This is a fact based review, to reinforce the timeline, and to alert others. The feeling of doing everything right and being left to absorb a complete bait and switch is not something I want others to experience. Unfortunately, while I have screenshoits of all the correspondence referenced above, this review site does not allow the addition of the images. I will be sure to include them on other sites and when I reach out to the BBB.
