They sold me a “binding estimate,” referred to their subcontractors as “our guys,” and used emotional manipulation during the sales call — leaning into my being a young father to pretend we shared some kind of personal connection. It was all an act.
After taking my deposit, they dumped my move onto Best American Moving LLC in New Jersey — a carrier I never agreed to — and everything fell apart from there. Boxes half-packed to inflate cubic footage, belongings delivered soaked and reeking of mildew, missing items, and entire portions of my professional wardrobe gone forever. Even my wedding suit vanished.
And the only thing Safe Ship actually stayed on top of? Hiring a defense lawyer the second I took them to small claims. Not to fix anything — just to avoid accountability. They’ve ghosted every attempt at real resolution, while Best American Moving violated federal claim rules and blocked my number the moment the truck pulled away.
Safe Ship loves to pretend they’re innocent because they’re “just the broker,” but brokers who misrepresent their role, hand families over to predatory carriers, and then hide behind legal fine print are part of the problem — and the authorities are finally cracking down. Several abusive brokers in Florida have already been hit by the OIG in the last six months. Safe Ship is heading straight toward the same fate — it’s only a matter of time.
