My vehicle was covered in dust/dirt inside and out when picked up. My car went from Austin, TX to Honolulu, HI with covered transport from Austin to San Diego which was an additional cost of about $500. My vehicle was completely filthy when picked up. I wasn’t so concerned with the outside but the inside of my car was absolutely coated with dust/dirt like it sat through a sand storm with the windows down. I contacted Montway and they were very nice but passed the blame on to RB Motor Carrier who transported my vehicle from Austin to San Diego. I paid for the additional service to have my vehicle covered during transport so this is just unacceptable. Neither party had any explanation for why this happened and I was only offered compensation of $100 by RB Motor Carrier. I had my vehicle detailed inside and out before being taken for transport and to receive it on the other end like it made the entire journey with the windows down and not covered is just unbelievable. Dust/dirt is in every seam of the upholstery and interior car console which I cannot get to myself unless I have my vehicle detailed again. I can’t imagine this happens often because they would no longer be in business. No one would be ok with this. Something clearly went wrong and all I got was a big shoulder shrug and a, “We don’t cover damage to the interior of the car”. Well yeah, because there is no reason for there to be any damage to the interior of a car during covered transport! Not only was my car coated inside and out but parts of the black plastic console/dash is scratched from whatever it was covered in as if someone maybe tried to wipe it, leaving parts with a white scratched haze. Very unhappy with how this was handled. Completely unacceptable. I do not recommend using Montway to transport your car.

I’m sorry your vehicle arrived so dirty despite the enclosed transport. While covered carriers offer extra protection, they can’t eliminate all dust—especially on overseas legs. For this reason, we advise only a light exterior wash (not a full detail) before shipping. In auto transport, only the exterior of vehicles are inspected and documented per FMCSA and USDOT. Vehicle interiors are not inspected in any capacity. So there would be no way for an auto transport company to know the condition prior to and during transport.
