Most of items in car were stolen

I selected Cascade because they referred me to their excellent reviews in Transport News. However, I had a horrible experience with them and I feel compelled to warn others. Cascade contracted with a carrier, Motion Express, who transported my son's vehicle from Albany NY to Los Angeles in December 2007. Cascade told me it was ok to put items in the trunk up to 100 pounds. When the trunk was opened upon delivery, our son was horrified when he saw that most of his belongings had been stolen. He lost his guitar, books, cds, dvds, and bedding, worth about $800. The trunk had not been broken into but appeared to have been opened with a key. When I complained to Cascade, the employee who had been working with me ,Geri was sympathetic and said she would see if there was anything they could do. However when I referred to the Cascade president, Diane Seeley, she was insulting and accusatory, criticizing me for "falsely accusing Motion Express of stealing my son's belongings when anybody could have taken them." She refused to do anything to compensate for our loss nor would she even agree to take any action to investigate what happened since she repeated that anybody could have opened the trunk and stolen the items. I seriously doubt that since Motion Express had the key the whole time the car was in transport that "anybody" could have stolen my son's belongings. Cascade's behavior was irresponsible and the manner in which I was treated was reprehensible.

Cascade Vehicle Shipping offers Mr. Patack a very sincere apology that his son's personal belongings were taken out of the vehicle sometime during transport. In no way would Cascade ever condone such criminal behavior. For those reading this review, however, Cascade would like to publish our policy on transporting personal items in a vehicle, a condition Mr. Patack was aware of prior to placing his order with Cascade, a policy that goes out on every quote Cascade sends, and is also available for reading on our website. "Cascade Vehicle Shipping, Inc. and the carrier are not responsible for the transport of personal items in the vehicle. Federal law prohibits Cascade Vehicle Shipping, Inc. or the carrier from doing so. Shippers (or agents) who transport personal items in the vehicle do so at their own risk. Please check with your private insurance to determine if coverage exists." For this reason, Cascade Vehicle Shippping does not recommend placing personal items in a vehicle that is being transported.
