Bill Avrich with Transport Connection answered all questions and handled all arrangements efficiently and honestly. We were shipping a creampuff Lincoln from Houston, TX to Honolulu, HI. The car went overland via an open hauler to Long Beach, CA where it was loaded onto the Matson ship for delivery to Honolulu. Bill conferenced me into his phone conversation with Matson ship lines to clarify that cars going from California to Hawaii are not put in closed containers as they're at sea only 4 days. Hawaiian cars are parked in the hull of the ship away from the elements. If the car was bound for Guam, a closed container can be used. Interestingly, Bill was the only transportation company or broker to put me on the phone with Matson to get their policy. All the hype about "closed container" and assurances by other transporters that Hawaiian cars must travel that way is not true.

Bill handled all arrangements transparently during the single phone call. He negotiated the overland portion with Coval Transport who ended up picking up the car a day early, which was fine with us as we were already aware of the 1/4 full gas tank rule and had driven the car down to that level. Coval called the day before and twice the day of pick-up to confirm the location and time of pick-up.

Coval delivered the car to the Port of Long Beach which coordinated the transfer of the car to Matson for the sea portion of the journey. The car arrived in Honolulu Friday evening and was picked up Monday afternoon.

The car shipped was a creampuff Lincoln Continental that is a 10 inside and out. It made the trip beautifully and will have a nice life in Hawaii.

Transport Connection will be our first and only call for our next shipment.
