I needed to ship my SUV from Florida to Hawaii for a permanent move. After researching and obtaining several quotes from various car transporters, I decided on Total Car Shipping after checking NTSB, BBB, and Transport Review sites. Not only did their quote come under all of the other companies- by more than $125, but I noted that theirs was the only site that had 0 paid reviews, and that over 95% of the reviews were very positive. When I questioned Tanya about the uncompensated reviews- she said it was their standard practice- and it was one of the decision makers in selecting their company for me.
Synopsis: They were quick, very professional, I never had to sit on hold for more than a minute or so, and they knew their job well. The only issues I encountered were with the contracted carrier- TowMax Transport, and possibly Matson Shipping who shipped my car via cargo ship from CA to HI. TowMax was a day late picking up my car, and if I had not contacted Total Car Shipping- probably would have been at least 2 or more days late. Their reasoning was that they wanted to fill their truck up, and didn't have enough cars to load. When I informed them that my car needed to be on a ship by 22 Jan, and it had to be in CA by 18 Jan to make the ship- they really didn't care. I contacted Tanya @ Total Car, to ask for another transporter immediately. They contacted TowMax, and my car was picked up the next day, and made the ship. My only other issue was when I picked up my car at the port in Hawaii, my upholstery in the car had dirty, black handprints and black smudges all over it in several places- even on the plastic areas of the cargo area. I had shampooed the car inside prior to shipping- so I was very unhappy with having to re-clean the interior due to someone not using disposable gloves while handling the car. I can't fault Total Car for that as most likely it occurred with either the transporter or the ship yard. Other than the dirty interior, my car had no damage upon its arrival to Hawaii. So Mahalo Nui Loa to Total Car Shipping! My car also arrived about 4 days earlier than expected too, not bad for trans-oceanic shipping!
