We are a shipping marketplace that connects shippers to carriers. The reason that the carrier companies were requesting was more than the initial estimate is that it was THANKSGIVING WEEK and there were load and driver shortages on the WA-WY route. There was also snowfall and icy roads in the region. Our dispatchers spent several days working on this shipment but there were only three carrier companies that reported availability and put in bids becuase there were no other carriers available. We sent the best offer to the shipper via email. After that the carrier company contacted the shipper and arranged a pickup and delivery. We were not open during Thanksgiving but we did respond to all of Sam's emails very quickly once he sent them to us. We also offered Sam a full refund because we genuinely strive to make all shippers happy with the service. Unfortunately there are carrier shortages on some routes during the Holidays. Despite some difficult challenges on this route the vehicle was still delivered at the lowest available rate by a fully insured and licensed carrier company.
