It was the first time I had arranged for a vehicle transport and did not realize that the actual pick-up date cannot be determined until a few days before pick-up. We had a small 3 day window to allow pick up and a carrier was not found until the third day, and then the carrier could not pick up until 2 days later. Good thing my son was able to find a friend of a friend in Seattle to leave his car with. The carrier dispatch was good about contacting and providing specific info on timing for pick up and then delivery in Austin. The car was delivered in good condition and in the time frame the carrier communicated. Later in the process of coordinating this transfer did I learn that timing is something that is hard to specifically determine on pick-up date. Other than that bit of stress, the process went well.

Thanks for feedback, Susan! It's true, it surprises a lot of first time shippers that drive times vary from week to week so there isn't a lot of advance notice. Instead, timing estimates and windows are provided.
