Overall, we had a good experience with Safe Direct and would definitely recommend them to others. We were shipping a relative's car from Northern CA. to Texas ( we're in Texas doing this long distance). We researched and talked to many transport brokers and appreciated the calm, low key way in which David at Safe Direct worked with us. Lots of e-mails keeping track of the process before shipping, not a lot of "hand holding" but no hard sell (much appreciated). I also appreciated the company's online videos answering many of my questions. When the initial price didn't get any bids in the week before our earliest transport date, price was increased to match what was "moving" at that time and we had a driver within 24 hours and pick up the next day. Our experience was not 100 percent excellent due to circumstances around pick up by Top Line Service, Inc, the actual trucking company.. The friends serving as our CA. contacts were told to expect a morning pick up, noon came and went with no driver call, *they* had to repeatedly initiate contact with the dispatcher and pick up did not actually occur until 5:00 pm. Since the car had to be driven to a pick up site away from their home and work, this full day commitment and the lack of communication was a nuisance for our friends. On the other hand, drop off was spot on time; the driver called the night before and was there when he said he'd be and had the car off the truck in a flash. For others new to this process I would add that we learned that any "door to door" advertising can be misleading. Because the auto transport trucks are very large and high, pick up and delivery needs to happen in large, wide open areas without many curbs or tall trees.
