My experience with Pride Car Shipping was a textbook case of bait and switch pricing and poor communication. Pride, like many companies in this space, is a broker — not a carrier — but they do not make that distinction clear.
After researching multiple transport companies and reviewing ratings, I requested quotes from several, including Pride. Within minutes, every company sent me a price for shipping my vehicle from Fort Myers, FL to Denver, CO. What followed was a week of nonstop calls, emails, and texts from all of them — extremely annoying.
I ultimately chose Pride because their quote was competitive and they claimed they could secure a driver. I worked with their dispatcher, Stacy Garcia, reviewed the contract, and signed. Like most brokers, their terms heavily favor them, including the right to change the price or cancel if they can’t find a driver. I specifically discussed this with Stacy, and she assured me repeatedly that she would honor the quoted price and secure a carrier.
That assurance turned out to be completely false.
Despite my calls, emails, and texts, Stacy rarely responded. The only message I consistently received was, “I am working on it.” As my pickup date approached, I became concerned and contacted other companies — but none would help because Pride had already posted my vehicle on the national driver board. I was effectively stuck.
I attempted to escalate the issue to Pride’s owner, Kate Marino, leaving multiple messages. She never returned a single call.
Then, one day before my absolute deadline, Stacy finally contacted me. She claimed she had found a carrier — but the price had jumped from $1,200 to $1,950, a more than 60% increase. She blamed “historical pricing,” gas costs, and the route, yet none of this was ever mentioned during our earlier conversations. It was clear they had low balled the quote to secure my business, then waited until the last moment to force me into paying more.
With no time left to find another carrier, I had no choice but to accept the inflated price. I again attempted to reach the owner, and again received no response.
In short: Pride Car Shipping was misleading, unresponsive, and unprofessional from start to finish. Their business model relies on quoting low, waiting until you’re trapped, and then raising the price dramatically. I would strongly advise anyone considering them — or any broker operating this way — to look elsewhere.
