Department of Transportation regulations state that car transporters are legally allowed to only transport cars. We are not allowed to transport any household goods. If we do, we are subject to their laws, and there is a very real possibility that those items may be confiscated by DOT officers.
However, we sometimes try to accommodate our customers by allowing them to put certain things inside as long as the customers are aware that we are not responsible if they get lost, stolen, or confiscated. Even so, our drivers will face the risk of getting fined an undisclosed amount by DOT. Because of this risk factor, we ask our customers to pay extra for having stuff in the car. We apologize if this information was not communicated clearly to Mr. Colquitt, but we expect, as the transporter, for the broker to have already communicated this to their customers prior to booking any transportation loads.
