I trusted this firm based on numerous conversations and emails with their staff, but I ended up with thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to my vehicle and the company refuses to take responsibility, despite it happening while it was in their possession. I was misled with false information and now I am stuck with having to deal with all the damages myself. My 2014 Tacoma has never been in an accident. I’m also a disabled veteran with spine damage and I chose that specific tonneau cover because it had a good dual locking latch system and special gas shocks that assisted in opening and closing. I also made a video prior to them picking the cars up showing a complete walkaround and even operating the tonneau, proving it was in perfect working order before they received it. My pickup kept getting swapped to different trailers during transport and zigzagged throughout the country, rather than a more direct route. I had placed an AirTag in my truck and tracked it going from GA to SC, then back to GA to different locations within the state, then throughout the south then all the way to AZ before heading back east, up thru MO, before starting its trek up north. At some point, it was also loaded backwards on another trailer. When my truck finally arrived, it was covered with heavy boot prints on top of my vehicle, scrapes and dents on several sides, and my $2400 tonneau cover absolutely destroyed. It appears that the cover opened during transport because they had loaded the truck improperly by placing it backwards and the driver had to repeatedly stomp on the tonneau cover to jam it back down, which only damaged the truck and topper even more as it destroyed both gas shocks, bent the hinges, & twisted the frame to the point where it ripped out and sheared numerous screws and bolts. I had asked the company on multiple occasions if it was okay to leave the cover during transport on and they kept repeating it would be just fine. This was clearly not true. Had they not misled me about it being safe I would have removed the tonneau cover and put it in the moving truck. Instead, I trusted them and what I was told and now I am out thousands because of damages which occurred on their watch. When they came to pick up the cars, the driver basically marked every square foot of the truck as having dents and scrapes, which was simply not true. That way, they could claim any damage was already present. They did admit climbing on the top of the truck, which make absolutely no sense except for them trying to jam down the tonneau after they broke it. All of the boot prints are repeated across the tonneau and all face the front, showing they tried to stomp down the fiberglass cover across the whole back end. The top trim of my truck bed rails also has deep gouges and the side of the truck has deep plastic scrapes. Despite the obvious damage during shipment and also my pictures and video showing the lack of damage to the truck and working tonneau cover, Mr. Car Shipper has repeatedly denied responsibility. I was misled and told false information to assure me I would be taken care of, and the damages happened while the Tacoma was in their possession. There are serious risks in using this company, as they just outsource the delivery to other transports. The other car just had a few nicks and dings, but the one with the handicapped veteran license plates was damaged, stomped on, and basically a mess. Mr. Car Shipper refuses to take responsibility for damages while the vehicle was under their responsibility and instead said I needed to go after the carrier THEY HIRED. Use someone else if you care about your car. Find someone who doesn’t just outsource to any low-cost carrier and find someone who will honor that they tell you. I have pictures, video, emails and more to back my complaints.
