First, I recommend you read several reviews for each company you are considering, especially their less-than-5-star reviews. You can learn a lot that way, for example, once the vehicle is picked up, it is the driver and not the transport company that determines what happens next.

Second, never trust an auto-quote. I received some quotes that were lower than Magic Carpet. When I asked MC to match the price, they said they did not think the competitor could really offer that price and to check with them. Sure enough, the other companies said "that was an auto-quote. The real price is..." and it was equal or greater than MC.I think that's where other reviews say the driver showed up and wanted $150 more than the quote.

Once I asked MC to arrange the shipment, I received notice within a day (on Friday) that the pickup was set for Monday. I've seen reviews where people waited 3 weeks or more just to get the pickup scheduled.

In fact, the vehicle was picked up Tuesday morning. That was OK for me since it was at a dealer. It was scheduled for delivery on Friday. The driver called Thursday AM to tell me he would be there that evening, a day early. 2100 miles in three days, how fast do these trucks go?? He called again when he was an hour from delivery. I live on a cul-de-sac on a steep hill so he asked if we could meet somewhere. I told him where and when I arrived, he had the vehicle unloaded and ready. The amount I paid was just what the quote had been. The driver was friendly and courteous.

Since I was not moving or otherwise time-constrained, the late pickup and early delivery were not a problem.

Stephanie at MC was very helpful and responsive. She kept me informed and steered me clear of those "auto-quotes". I would not hesitate to use MC again or recommend them to others.
