Arrived without a scratch after 6 days and 3000 miles

I went to multiple review sites to evaluate transport brokers. Most (including this site) seem to be "sponsored" by the brokers. This is typical of most review sites regardless of the services or goods that you are researching. In this case, the shipper offers a $50 rebate if you post a review on this site following the delivery of your vehicle. I don't have any issues with this, but it is something to be aware of while shopping around.

My understanding of the system is as follows: the brokers do not actually have truck fleets or drivers. They put out a request to transport a vehicle at a certain price. Truck drivers will evaluate of all the requests and pick the ones that they want to accept, probably based on timing, price, and route. I'm sharing this information because it is important to realize that you are indirectly competing with others for spots on a truck. Finding the lowest price from a broker will likely result in a long delay for when your vehicle gets picked up. The truckers will obviously pick the transports that pay the most.

Also be aware that pricing fluctuates quite a bit. I originally got quotes a few months back, and they averaged $300 less expensive than this round of quotes. I didn’t realize that the prices fluctuated this much and I wasn’t in any rush at the time to ship the car.

As for my experience with Magic Carpet – the car was picked up within 4 days of when I placed my order, and was delivered 6 days and 3000 miles later without a scratch. I spoke to Magic Carpet on the phone once when I placed the order, and spoke to the driver when he called for directions. Both were professional, polite, and helpful. This being my first experience shipping a car, I don’t have a frame of reference from which to compare Magic Carpet to other brokers. However, their service was great and the car arrived in perfect condition. I recommend their service.
