Good overall experience, but pricing is a "best guess"

I sent two cars from Connecticut to Colorado and was quoted a total cost of $1850.00. The day before my "drop dead" date for having the cars picked up (we were leaving that next day), I got a call from Kathy at Magic Carpet saying that the price was going up by $300.00. With no time to get another carrier, I had no choice but to agree. Kathy was pleasant, and explained that their pricing was an estimate only, but the last minute price change didn't make me happy. I asked for her to drop some of their broker's fee, and she took $50.00 off the price. Better than nothing, I suppose.
Still, the cars arrived in five days, in one piece and were delivered right to my door. The driver (Don from Diamond Express Transportation) was a real good guy, friendly and he kept in touch with me throughout the process. I could see that he really cared about doing a careful job. His company should be proud to have him as an employee.
Kathy checked up on the service during the transit and then checked with me again after delivery to make sure everything was okay. The fact is, the car shipping business is a bit like the Wild West - little oversight and pretty much anything can happen. The best you can hope for is that the company you choose does its best to help make the process easier. I feel that Kathy at Magic Carpet did that for me, and I appreciate her help.
