I am a retired US Army Combat Veteran (OIF) with 28 years of honorable service. I purchased a vehicle online and submitted for quotes to transport this vehicle via a site on Hemmings Auto Classifieds, and in turn received about 10 proposals from interested companies. I got a call from one company who immediately stated they will beat anyone's price and even offered me a military discount. The irony of that was they pushed the discount to the transport carrier, not from their fee (deposit) as the broker. I was suckered so fast that I did not see it coming.
Companies in this market are brokers, most do not have transportation assets organic to their company, however very few do. They list your vehicle for the price agreed upon on a service called "Central Dispatch"; monitored by drivers. If they low ball your figure, your vehicle sits as other admirable companies client’s vehicles move across the country. With many crooked companies , it is a sad case of "Bait and Switch", holding your deposit hostage while they strong arm you to increase the transport fee (which goes to the carrier), otherwise weeks go by; five weeks in my case. I later learned that reputable companies in the same industry do not accept deposit until the carrier is secured for the price that you agree on, as well as the contract being completed at that time too. Get It Done is one of the reputable ones.
David from Get It Done Transportation, called me after I had already jumped on the great deal I got from one of the marauding companies. I WILL NOT call them a competitor, as there is a grave difference in many of the companies in this market. All brokers are not created equal. When I informed him that I already secured a company, he asked for how much. He wished me luck and actually called me back later, explaining the sad facts about this industry. He thought he may have misjudged his proposal and went back to run the numbers, and knew what was happening. You can read my whole ordeal on this site under the company Transport Relief, LLC- With Intent to Deceive. David's purpose was motivated by the bizarre misrepresentation that takes place in this unregulated arena; you know when you can tell someone really cares. The problem was I had already taken the bait elsewhere.
After learning a hard lesson, and spending much time researching many companies and this industry, I reached back to Dave and used his service. Only a difference of one hundred dollars from his original quote, I agreed to go with him. The experience was totally different, as you would expect from someone who runs their own business, handles their own phone calls, and banks their reputation and family income on the performance and satisfaction provided to their clients. My only regret is that I found this site after I made a deal with another company, on this site you can easily see who the reputable companies are. David procured a driver within one day and arrangements were made for following day pick up. Only then did I pay David his fee, and he supplied me with eight pages of documents on the carrier company which included but was not limited to company owners, license and registration information, insurance and pertinent information on the transport process.
Sadly, the industry is flooded with vultures and thieves seeking to steal your money and they have very few scruples who they do it to- the elderly, the handicapped, and the unknowing.
What I was expecting all the while, is what I got from Get It Done Transportation; straight up talk, quick and reliable results, 24 hour available contact options, and a safely delivered vehicle. I also wanted the cheapest rate I could get and that was the biggest mistake I made. Unequivocally, without doubt or hesitation I recommend David Pein and his company Get It Done Transportation for honesty, integrity and results.
