Bait and Switch Routine

This is my first car shipping experience, and now I have a really great insight on how messed up this industry really is.

To give a brief overview, I had put an order in with another broker (not corporate auto) and because I hadn't received a call back about a carrier that was found, I thought I would try to find a local company that might have local carriers with an enclosed option. I called Corporate Auto Transport because they were based in Portland,OR where my car was being picked up, and told them if they could find someone to pick up my car by a certain day, I would drop my other broker and go with them. They also told me that the other broker under-bid the job to get my business.

I got a call back from them the next day saying that they had found a carrier that could pick up my car on Wednesday, and I was excited so I paid the $300 deposit (out of $1,900) over the phone to make sure my car would be picked up. (later I find an email that confirms my payment and order, and that these times are only ESTIMATED. I didn't care, because Jon told me it'd be picked up on Wednesday, and he knew how important it was to me)

Meanwhile, the Tuesday night I get a call from the previous broker saying that they could also get me on to a different truck for about $400 less than corporate auto was charging me and still be picked up on Wednesday. I told them since I had already put the deposit down with Corporate auto that I couldn't, and I wish I had waited.

Wednesday rolls by, and the car wasn't picked up, and they didn't give me any explanation. They ONLY reason, I paid them more money than the other broker is because they were going to get my car picked up on Wednesday. The next morning (Thursday) I email them and tell them how upset I was about it, and Jon, one of the sales guys, sounded confused and said that the carrier told him they were going to pick it up on Wednesday.

I finally was able to get my dealership to call the carrier directly, and they said they'd pick the car up that afternoon. So they picked it up Thursday Afternoon.

They didn't completely ignore my emails, and after an update email about where the car was he told me that they would be dropping cars off Wednesday-Friday, and that my car was put in line First to be dropped off, so they would drop off Wednesday. This would have made up for the fact that they picked up my car late, and I was happy with that.

So today is Wednesday, and after not getting a call from the driver to set up a drop off, I called the carrier directly. They told me that their order said that it was supposed to be delivered on Friday, and that they could probably get it to me Thursday night. As you can imagine, I was furious because again Jon at corporate auto transport over promised and under delivered.

These delays would be understandable if the truck had broken down, crazy traffic problems, etc. But it wasn't do to any of that, it was just due to them taking advantage of a newbie auto shipper that trusted they would pick up and deliver my car when they said they would.

I've requested at least my deposit back of $300 for their misrepresentation, but all they do is refer back to their terms and conditions they sent me AFTER I had already agreed to Wednesday, and paid them the $300.

They feel they have done nothing wrong, and I notified them i'd be posting this review.

PLEASE DO NOT USE CORPORATE AUTO TRANSPORT if you have any time deadlines.

Greg called on Tuesday saying he was waiting on another company to find someone to pick up his car still, they had let him down by under-quoting him and he asked us to help him instead. We quoted Greg $2000 for an enclosed carrier for his Maserati for pickup within 1-5 business days. We ended up locating a driver that same day though who said he could pickup on Wed. and delivery within about 7 days and we even got the price down to $1900 for him instead of $2000 and he said to book it. So we did. Dates are still estimates of course, we NEVER guaranteed any dates to him. He is lying about why he went with us.. he went with us because we actually had a driver for pickup and the other company he had been waiting on didn't! NOT because of the date, but because it was for sure being picked up period! We followed up on the terms of service with him by sending him an email confirmation right away on 08/21. He never replied or called saying he didn't agree to the terms. He became unhappy when the driver fell behind schedule and got his car picked up about 18hrs later than planned and then delivery was estimated for the following wed-fri, which we told him in his email confirmations on Tues. 08/21, 2days before his car was even picked up, could possibly happen anyway. There is no bait & switch involved here, we got the car moved faster then we said we normally do and for cheaper than we quoted him and he's complaining?? He has been very demanding ever since we got the car picked up and has called and emailed us several times a day just to ask what city and state his car is in and demanding his car be there by Wednesday or he will only pay the driver what the other company quoted him if it's not. He is being unreasonable, rude, and cheap about an honest company helping him when someone else let him down. He's obviously very self involved to be so oblivious to contracts and policies and to think they don't pertain to him. We're confident this review will mean nothing to our future customers because this guy is so ridiculous over a day delay when we clearly did a great job getting it picked up so fast! -Corporate Auto Transport
