The truck broke down

Both Chris the broker and Al the driver are nice guys. I was quoted $750 which is average for this route. I had to come up with another $35 after the quote which I consented to but I have found is typical in this poorly regulated business. My car was picked up on the scheduled day but a bit later in the day than I was told to expect. Pickup was right at my house. I was told by the driver Al who picked up my car that he was leaving the next day and expected to arrive in Florida the following Monday eveining about the same time I was arriving. When I called him he told me he had been delayed due to a tire problem but expected to arrive late the next day. He was somewhere in the Carolinas at the time. When I called him late the next day (Tuesday) he indicated that he was by the side of the road south of St. Augustine Fl with a blown engine and he expected to have the problem resolved and the car delivered by late Thursday. I extended my car rental through Friday. I called Al on Thursday afternoon and the truck had been towed to a truck stop in Ft. Pierce which is about 80 miles from where I am located. He was unsure of when it would be repaired. When I again called him on Friday morning he still did not have a repair time. I told him I would be glad to pick up my car in Ft. Pierece and he told me he did not know if he could get my car off the truck because he had no hydraulics. When I continued to push him on this he indiecated he would try to work out something with another turck in the truck stop. I called him a few hours later and he had hooked up another truck and was removing the cars. I was able to pick up my car in Ft. Pierce later that day. The car was in the same condition as pickup.

My major criticism is that NO ONE called me to apprise me of the problems and a solution was found only after my continued prodding to get my car off of the truck. This is LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE. But, from reading other reviews stories like this are all too common in this poorly regulated business where the customer seems to be considered a nuisance rather than the guy paying the bill.
