I needed my new car to be shipped across the state. Gina from MoveWheels.com contacted me and provided me with a quote the I felt was fair. She was willing to arrange next day pickup and have my car at my house that night. Although this plan did not work for my schedule, I was impressed with the quick turnaround that was offered.
I believed I missed the window of opportunity to have a quick delivery and would have to wait several more days before they could schedule me. I gave them a call to see what type of availability they had and if the quote was still going to be honored. Sure enough, they were able to schedule me for the day that I wanted (which was two days from that call) and for the same quote amount. As it turned out, I received a phone call from my dealership, a day early, and they advised me that the shipper was at their location and ready to pickup my new car. I was surprised about hearing this new development since it was a full day early and in the evening time. The shipper was put on the phone and he said he would have my car at my house in the early morning. I live at least nine to ten hours (shipper time) away from this dealership. Although I was excited to receive my car, I felt this was just too fast and I did not want to wake up my neighbors in the early morning. The shipper, Robert was great and he advised that he would drop off my car at a more reasonable hour.
Car arrived as promised and without any major issues. The only thing that came up was when it came down to final payment, I thought MoveWheels.com could charge the entire amount on my card and disperse the shippers share. When the car was delivered, I was told that there was a COD fee needed. The fee was for the same amount within the original quote, so I was not paying more, but only that there was going to be two separate transactions. Move Wheels.com would take their share and the Shipper would get his share at time of delivery. I did not notice this in my original contract, but it problematic since I was not present to take delivery. The shipper and Gina worked with me to resolve the issue and I paid the shipper directly through another payment method.
Before deciding to ship my car, which I had never done before, I was unsure if this was the right thing to do. It turned out that it was cost effective,, allowed me not to put on wasted mileage on my new car, and receive my car in the same amount of time that I would have had to drive it myself. It will be an option that I would do again when I need a vehicle transported.
