I first contacted Magic Carpet Transport after reading Transport Reviews online. I was quoted and emailed a price of $1734 (enclosed). For an additional $300 and a 1-3 day priority pickup time cost w/be $2020 ok this was on 8/23. On 8/25 I called them to ask if they had a driver as the seller of the car was trying to arrange his schedule. After telling them it was a priority order they said they would look into it. I called back on 8/26 and was told they had a possible carrier who could pickup the car on 8/31. Here comes the "bait & switch." The total price now was $2080. An extra $60 & the car would not be picked up for another 5 days. I was told the higher price is what the driver is charging to do the transport and (we) don't control what they charge. I said no. Then came the excuses. The price that was originally quoted was only an estimate. The 1-3 days priority is not a guarantee. A hurricane is coming to the East Coast. I said the car is in WA state and would not arrive in the East for another week so what does this have to do with the pickup time. (We) are spending a lot of time & making a lot more phone calls for you to get you a carrier. They finally said they would come down on the brokerage fee (not a customary occurrence) but still this was more than the original quote. I was told what more could they do for me than this? My reply, stand by your original quote. For the original quote, they would have to put me back on the "board" and who knows when a carrier would pick this up. I cancelled.

On Monday(8/29) I called Auto Transport 123 and spoke to Ben. He asked if I had a car waiting to be picked up and I told him what had happened with Magic Carpet. Ben quoted $1695 (enclosed). I gave him the order, email sent & within a few hours Ben called and had a driver. The car was slated for pickup on 8/31. I was emailed the drivers name and phone number. On 8/31, the seller of the car spoke with the driver and was told pickup wouldn't be until Friday 9/2, which was okay with the seller. The car arrived on Thursday 9/8 and everything went smoothly. The driver Stephan was very professional. I would highly recommend AutoTransport 123 and I will use them again and will tell all our antique car friends and acquaintances this is the company to call. No shenanigans with AutoTransport 123.
