QUser Question

What is the difference between and open and an enclosed carrier?

Should I ship my vehicle on an enclosed truck or an open trailer?

Open is cheaper, but Enclosed will protect again weather & road debris.

Open transport is the choice for most standard vehicles while enclosed is recommended for any high-end, classic or show vehicles.

Open transport is the most common & cost-effective method for shipping a vehicle. The vehicle is securly loaded onto the trailer and will move exposed to the elements & general road debris; similar to if you were dirving the mileage yourself.

Enclosed transport will have your vehicle inside a fully enclosed trailer, protecting it from road debris, weather & other elements for the duration of the transport. Enclosed typically carriers fewer vehicles, usually resulting in a quicker transport time, but comes with a significantly higher cost compared to open transport.

In my experience most enclosed drivers are more experienced & know cars. They often have specialized ramps or lifts to load low ground clearance vehicles, while providing that extra care those need.

The price difference usually runs around 40-60% higher for enclosed. Both option still use professional licensed & insured carriers with the required insurance coverage.

If you aren't sure which option is best for you, a professional broker will walk you through the decisions to find the right fit.
