I booked the transportation way in advance and allowed a 7 day window as a pickup period. I did however opt for the open carrier with no absolute guarantee of pickup as this was the lowest price. I figured that as I had given such a wide range of dates it would work out, but I was leaving teh state on May 13 so basically the car had to go before that. When it got close to my first available pickup day and I had not heard anything I called and was reassured that I would be contacted when a driver was found. Halfway through my pickup range of dates I was getting really worried as my drop dead date was looming . . . so I called and again was reassured. And sure enough later that day, I was called and a driver had been found but I did have to pay more that originally quoted - but it was still reasonable. The next day the car was loaded onto the carrier - a day ahead of the last possible pickup date. I think next time I will opt for the guaranteed pickup date and pay a little more so I avoid the nail biting and worrying. The car arrived safe and sound in California right within the time window I had been promnised.
