When I first began a search for a carrier to move my Corvette from California to New Mexico, I was overwhelmed with the number of phone calls and e-mails I recieved from different brokers. I went with AmeriFreight because they were the least "pushy" and they had a good reputation. When you go to the AmeriFreight web site and recieve an on-line quote, the least expensive quote is called the Economy deal. However, they are quite honest in telling you only about 30 percent of customers will get thier vehicle shipped at that rate. I, unfortunantely, was part of the 70 percent who did not get picked up at that rate. After sitting for about a week, I called AmeriFreight and made a deal to bump up my end by $100 if they would take $50 out of thier profit and put it toward the driver as well. Once the deal was made, my car was scheduled by a carrier within hours. I got really lucky in that I paid for an open carrier and the driver showed up with an enclosed carrier; bonus!
