My first contact person with this company was Barbara. The first quote I received from her via email was for an open carrier and the price was $750.00 total (which includes the $150.00 brokerage fee from All States Car Transport). When I called and spoke with her I told her that I specified an enclosed carried and she told me it would be an additional $300.00 which would bring the total to $1050.00. She told me to look at TransportReviews.com and see her rating, I saw that the company had 16 overall ratings over the last 2 years, but it said that they were only a member on the site for a month. When I asked her about this, she told me that the company recently sold and that the new owners started a new account with TransportReviews.com and that is the reason it shows them only being members for a month. She promised up and down that if I went with her that she would take care of me the whole way through and that I would be very happy, I agreed and she posted my job on the board.
After 4 days with my car not being assigned to a carrier, I called All States Car Transport and was connected to Eli, she told me that the car is still out on the board and there have been no takers as of yet. I told her that I would be willing to go with an open carrier if that would be quicker and asked her if the price would still be $750.00, as originally quoted to me. She said that it would be around $750.00 or $800.00, I told her if she can get a carrier for the original quoted price of $750, that I would agree to that, otherwise I would wait for an enclosed carrier. The next day I called back and she said that the car was dispatched to a carrier with an open trailer, I confirmed that it would be $750, and she told me that yes, it would be $750.00 to the carrier and $150.00 to All States Car Transport for brokering it. I told her that in the original email and quote from Barbara that the price was $750.00 including everything, Eli told me to forget what Barbara said, that she is only an order taker. I told Eli that I will not forget what Barbara said because she is a representative from All States Car Transport and she is my first contact person that I had with the company. I told her that I have the email that says the price would be $750.00 total, she said, “prices change”. I tried to talk to Eli but every time I would speak, she would talk over me, interrupt me without letting me even get a full sentence out. I told her how unbelievable and ridiculous this was trying to have a conversation with her and that I wanted to just cancel the whole order and go with another company because I don’t trust her and don’t want to deal with her or All States Car Transport. Eli said fine and we ended the conversation. Approximately an hour later I saw Eli calling me on my caller ID, I chose not to answer her call, and then received a voicemail message asking that I return her call because she could not cancel the order because my car was already picked up by the carrier.
I immediately called the body shop and asked if they had released my car to a carrier and they said that they just did, and that the carrier was probably still outside loading. They went and looked but the carrier was already gone with the car, the body shop said that they must have just left within five minutes.
I called Eli back and she said when she tried to cancel the order, she found out that the car was already picked up 2 hours prior to me telling her to cancel it. I told her that she had no right to have the carrier pick up my car because I had not even signed an authorization with them to pick up the car. She told me that I gave verbal authorization and that “it’s too late”. I got the carriers name and number that All States Car Transport brokered to, I called them and spoke with Serge, he told me that they had JUST picked up the car and that the truck was just down the street from the body shop. I asked him how much was due to him when the car was delivered to me in Washington and he told me $800.00. I told him that I was having a problem with the broker and that I want the car returned to the body shop. He questioned me and asked why I was doing this, I told him that the carried had lied to me and changed the price on me and I was not happy with them. He told me that he would bring the car back but he would charge me a couple hundred dollars to do so and that he would not release the car without cash in hand. He said that my best bet would be to call the broker and work it out with them.
I called Eli back and tried to talk to her, she told me that she wanted to do a conference call with Serge. After about four times disconnecting me, I think hung up on…, I called back and Eli finally connected us to a conference call with Serge. Serge said that his driver just picked up the car and that the price due upon delivery was $800.00. I told both of them that I would never have agreed to an open carrier for $950.00, when I could have an enclosed one for $1050.00. Eli once again talked over me and would not hear anything I was saying. I told her, lets just work it out since the car is already on the truck, come to some agreement to keep me happy and then she will have a satisfied customer. She told me that she was not willing to do anything, that she was done with me and then said that she had other customers that needed her help, then she hung up on Serge and I. When she hung up it disconnected Serge and I so I called him back, I asked if he heard the whole conversation, he told me that he had heard everything, even when she hung up on me. He said it was unbelievable and that he had never heard such a thing. He also said that I am the customer and that they are providing a paid service and should cater to me. I agreed. He said that he would reduce his cost to $750.00. He then checked All States Car Transport’s rating and saw that they only had 16 reviews in two years. An indicator that I should not have gone with them.
I immediately called my credit card company, which I had given the number to Barbara over the phone, and they had already charged $150.00 on it.
I’ve learned a lesson and would never ever use this broker again.
I also called Angel at High End Transport who I have used several times in the past and told him of my experience, next time I will definitely call them first. Trying to save a dollar is not necessarily the best idea.
If anyone had any questions about my experience you are welcome to email me, I would be happy to email or speak with you on the phone.
