I had a horrible experience with Air, Land and Sea in Jan 2005.

I had to ship my car in a hurry from NY to CA. So I was shopping for auto transporter who can do an immediate pickup. I called ALS and the guy on the phone promised a next day pickup. He took my credit card# and said that he will be sending a order form via email which I need to sign and fax back to them. I never received the email. After three attempts to call them back, I left a message with an alternate email id just in case. When I didn't hear back, I shopped around and signed up with another company.

The car was picked up the next day by a local towing company who was contracted by my auto mover. I found out later that ALS worked with the same towing company, and had found out about my car being picked up. They too my car hostage claiming that it is their order and refused to hand it ovet to my moving company. By this time, I had moved to CA and was in very helpless situation.

I called ALS on the phone. Not only were the guys very rude (George is the only name I can recall) but they demanded that I sent them a money order for $150 as pickup fee if they were to let the car go. They had also charged my creditcard $200 by this time, though I had not authorized them. The drama continued for a while until the driver from my moving company forcibly took possession of my car from ALS.

I called my credit card company to report fraud against Air, land and sea. I am not sure if ALS was contacted, but they did refund my money in 3 weeks time.

The whole thing cost me a lot of phone calls and caused much mental agony. If you are looking for an auto mover, please stay away from Air Land and Sea. Don't get fooled by the low rates and promise of quick pickup. These guys don't know the first thing about customer service. I am amazed they are still in business.
