Caution with A1

Be VERY careful when using a broker comapny like A1 Transport, Inc. Despite verbal assurances that A1 only hires reliable companies to transport your car, this did NOT happen.

I was told by A1 that my car would be picked up in 3-5 days from contract signing. This did NOT happen. It took almost 2 weeks.

I was told by A1 that the driver would contact me within 24 hours of delivery, to give me notice. This did NOT happen. I was contacted by somebody from the driver's office less than 7 hours before delivery. After I scrambled to re-arrange my day, I was told the driver now could not make it until tomorrow anyway.

The company A1 hired for me picked up my car with an expensive fishing rod inside it, yet the car arrived MINUS the fishing rod. I asked the driver what happened, but he said he doesn't concern himself with the contents of cars. I am 100% positive the rod was in the car when it left its origin.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART of this experience is that when I told all this to A1, they justify any and all bad service by saying:

"I believe if you had read the Terms and Conditions than you would not be upset with A1 Transport Inc. "..."Some customers think that shipping a vehicle is like a pizza delivery service, this is obviously not how everything works..."..."We hope you will not stay angry for long and will come to appreciate that you received your vehicle damage free at a reasonable price."

In other less patronizing words, it doesn't matter that what A1 verbally told you what would happen didn't really happen, or that the company A1 hired wasn't reliable, or that your fishing rod disappeared, because A1's Terms and Conditions legally mean what they tell you to get you to use the service doesn't have to really be true.

This is a classic way in which unreliable companies behave.

And yes, my car did arrive in one piece. This is all A1 cares about. Just don't depend on anything they say regarding time frames or reliability of companies they will use to ship your car.

If you think this bad review is cancelled out by the other good reviews on this site, consider who might have written those good reviews.

Also, I did contact A1 before I posted this to remedy the situation, but like I said, it's all about Terms and Conditions...and I should be thrilled with the experience.
