14 days already, how long it will be?

We made our order with A1 on May 24th and specified the available date was June 2nd. Then we flied from MO to WA, waiting for the news from A1 about the delivery of our car. One and half weeks ago, we called and they told us they did not know when they could do it and let us wait until one week later. Last week, there were still no news. So we called and customer service told us that there might be a space for our car this Monday. We waited... Now Monday passed and it is Thursday already and still no news!
We understand that they can not guarantee dates of delivery due to lots of reasons. However, if they are always unsure about availability of carrier, why they charge cumtomers non-refundable fees? We have to extend our rental car for another week. Who will be responsible for the loss? How long we will wait? We already wrote an email asking these questions and they did not reply.
It is our first time doing such kind of long-distance relocation. The lesson we learned is that never pay for a car shipping company before they can tell you exactly when they can ship you car. In the hectic schedule after the relocation, such kind of event can be very disturbing.
