It seems the market for auto transportation is behind every other market. It works as a broker system in which the broker posts your car to a universal database that the actual transporter can access, taking a cut in the process. Consequently, the price the broker quotes you includes their "cut" and in Amerifreight's case, their low price comes with a caveat. Amerifreight lists your car at a subpar price for many transporters, resulting in longer wait times unless a transporter happens to be desperate (i.e. they might have lost a client last minute). How do I know this? I called up another company to ask them about my listing on the database. They said they would never list at such a low price...its nearly impossible to get it shipped. Amerifreight reconciles this by offering a policy in which they are allowed to automatically add $300 to your quote price (which of course they're going to tack on)...unless you opt out. they claim this ships the car in a timely manner...how about you just give the consumer an honest quote instead of trying to lure them in with a promise not kept? I very clearly opted out of this $300 tack on, but my broker still called asking if I would like to ship my car for 125% of the quote price. She claimed that I forgot to opt out...I have an email record showing I did. I get it- it's a business, but that's just shady. I ended up paying about $100 over the quoted price.

This part of the review focuses more on the actual transporter whom the broker assigned to me...so I would assume it is a reflection on Amerifreight as well. My car was supposed to arrive Tuesday. I had a trip planned on Friday. Tuesday became Wednesday, which became Thursday morning and eventually Thursday night, until it actually arrived Friday night. Needless to say, my trip was canceled. When I look at companies, what I care about most is honesty. I asked the transporter multiple times if I should reschedule my train. I was consistently met with an optimistic arrival time that just did not happen. I would much rather have preferred knowing it would arrive late, so that I could reschedule. You'll hear this echoed across many reviews, but its true...once the car is on the truck, they could care less when it gets to you or about providing good customer service. My calls and texts were ignored by the transporting company multiple times. That being said, I was not being met with honesty either by Amerifreight or the actual transporter. My best interaction was with the driver, who seemed sincere and polite.

Did my car make it here? Yes. Was it in good condition? Yes. But the headache of having to deal with the broker and the transporter was far too mentally taxing. This is a market that just hasn't caught up with the times...but the least that I can ask for is honesty. Would much rather have driven my car from coast to coast than deal with this again. Avoid it if you can.

We understand that shipping a vehicle can sometimes be a stressful experience. When customers choose Amerifreight as their broker, they are given the option of several different rates, depending on the customer's time constraints and shipping preferences. This customer opted for our Economy Saver Rate which is only suggested for people with little to no time restrictions. Amerifreight prides itself on being upfront and transparent with each and every customer through all steps of the shipping process.
